Jessica Biel is set to star in a limited series adaptation of the Karin Slaughter novel “The Good Daughter” at Peacock, Variety has learned.
Biel will also executive produce the series under her Iron Ocean banner, with Slaughter set to adapt her book for the screen in her television writing debut. Bruna Papandrea will also executive produce via Made Up Stories.
The official description of the series states: “Sisters Charlotte (Biel) and Samantha Quinn have spent the last twenty-eight years trying to piece together the lives that were fractured by a single night of violence. When another attack splinters the small town of Pikeville, Charlotte is the first witness on the scene. Now a lawyer like her father, she’s forced to confront her own demons as the case twists through one shocking revelation after another. In the end, both she and Samantha find themselves wondering if the price of being the good daughter was worth it after all.”
Slaughter will also executive produce the series in addition to writing all episodes. Michelle Purple of Iron Ocean will also executive produce alongside Biel. Steve Hutensky and Casey Haver of Made Up Stories executive produce along with Papandrea. Fifth Season will serve as the studio.
This will be the second of Slaughter’s novels to be adapted for television by Made Up Stories. The company previously produced a series version of her book “Pieces of Her,” which starred Toni Collette and aired on Netflix in March 2022. Slaughter’s Will Trent novel series also serves as the basis for the hit ABC series “Will Trent,” which is currently airing its second season.
Biel most recently starred in and executive produced the Hulu limited series “Candy.” She has also previously starred in and executive produced shows like “The Sinner” and “Limetown,” while she and Iron Ocean have produced shows such as Freeform’s “Cruel Summer.” Biel is known for her role in the hit WB series “7th Heaven” and for films like “Blade: Trinity,” “The A-Team,” “The Illusionist,” and “Hitchcock.”
