The Producers Guild of America will present Charles D. King with the 2024 Milestone award, honoring his contributions to the film industry. He will be given the award at the 35th Annual Producers Guild Awards on Feb. 25.
King is the founder and CEO of MACRO, a multi-platform media company that represents the perspectives of Black people, Indigenous people and people of color. The company’s business verticals include film and television studios that finance, develop and produce theatrical and streaming features and premium television, in addition to an in-house branding and creative agency.
King made history in 2021 when “Judas and the Black Messiah” received a best picture nomination at the Oscars, with him, Ryan Coogler and Shaka King becoming the first all-Black team of nominated producers. MACRO’s projects have received fifteen Oscar nominations — with three wins — a Peabody Award nomination, two Emmy nominations, six Children’s and Family Emmy Award nominations and one Grammy nomination.
“I launched MACRO nine years ago with the mission of amplifying the voices and perspectives of persons of color. I’m so proud of my colleagues and the extraordinary producers, filmmakers and artists that I have had the honor of working with over the years – together we’ve shaped MACRO into a force in the industry. We are blessed to do what we do every day, and the road ahead holds boundless promise,” King said in a statement.
The award acknowledges producers or production teams that have made historic contributions to the entertainment industry. Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy were honored in 2023. Past recipients include Louis B. Mayer, Walt Disney, and Alfred Hitchcock, in addition to Steven Spielberg, Bob Iger, James Cameron, George Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy.
Abramorama Acquires North American Theatrical Rights to Photographer Docu “Vishniac”
Abramorama has acquired the North American theatrical rights to Laura Bialis’ documentary “Vishniac,” which tells the story of the prominent 20th century photographer Roman Vishniac, known for capturing Jewish life in Eastern Europe for the American Joint Distribution Committee in the 1930s.
Abramorama starts off the theatrical release on Jan. 19 with a week-long run at New York City’s Quad Cinema, before screening in Los Angeles at the Laemmle Town Center and Laemmle Royal beginning Feb. 2.
“Vishniac” is executive produced by Nancy Spielberg, produced by Roberta Grossman and written by Sophie Sartain. It premiered at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

Max Greenfield to Host 28th Annual Art Directors Guild Awards
“New Girl” actor Max Greenfield will host the 28th annual Art Directors Guild (ADG) Awards on Feb. 10, 2024.
Known for his role as Schmidt on the television sitcom “New Girl,” Greenfield is currently starring in sitcom “The Neighborhood.” His recent film appearances include 2020’s “Promising Young Woman” and 2022’s “The Valet.” As per the press release, the ADG Awards honor talent in production design across film and television.
“I’m excited to host the ADG Awards this year,” Greenfield said. “It’s an honor to recognize production designers and their teams — without them, I’d be acting in a chasm of nothingness.”
