Newly revealed court documents have accused Cher of employing four men to forcefully remove her son, Elijah Blue Allman, from his New York hotel on the night of his wedding anniversary with his estranged wife.

The allegations were outlined in a court declaration signed by Allman’s wife, Marie Angela King, on Dec. 4 in the Los Angeles Superior Court. They were recently made public as part of the couple’s ongoing divorce case that was first filed by Allman — a year prior to the alleged abduction — in November 2021.

In the filing, King claims she and Allman had committed to working on their marriage after Cher had requested she leave their family home. Allman and King allegedly spent 12 days alone together in New York leading up to their anniversary on Nov. 30, which is when the kidnapping is said to have happened.

“After spending these 12 days together in NY… four people came to our hotel room and removed [Allman] from our room,” King claims in the filing, adding that she was “told by one of the four men who took him that they were hired by [Allman’s] mother.”

“I am currently unaware of my husband’s wellbeing or whereabouts,” King wrote in December. “I am very concerned and worried about him.” She added, “Since August 2022, I have been told that I am not allowed to see or speak to [Allman] who is currently in lockdown at a treatment facility that is undisclosed to me. I am also told [Allman] has no access to his phone.”

Allman has opened up publicly about his addiction issues before, and Cher has also openly addressed her family’s struggle with drug abuse, which dates back to her own father’s use of heroin.

King’s declaration ends with a plea: “I understand his family’s efforts to make sure he is well, and I want what is best for my husband.”

Cher’s representative did not immediately return Variety‘s request for further comment.
