ChaiFlicks, a streaming platform dedicated to Jewish content, has acquired the rights to all three seasons of Yes Studios‘ “Shtisel,” in addition to the studio’s drama series “Fire Dance.”
Season One of “Shtisel” will begin streaming on ChaiFlicks in the U.S., Australia and New Zealand on Dec. 14. “Fire Dance” will debut on the streamer in the U.S., Australia, New Zealand and Canada in early 2024.
“Ori Elon, Yehonatan Indursky and the team at yes assembled a phenomenal ensemble cast and created a global phenomenon with ‘Shtisel’ and ‘Fire Dance’ and Rama Burshtein-Shai’s first foray into television was one of the most anticipated Israeli dramas of the last decade,” ChaiFlicks’ Neil Friedman and Bill Weiner said in a joint statement.
Winning numerous awards, including best drama series from the Israeli Academy TV Awards, “Shtisel” follows the lives of the Shtisel family, a warm, tight-knit ultra-Orthodox family in Jerusalem, offering “unique insight into the daily lives and loves propelling the ‘Haredi’ society,” per the release. Ori Elon and Yehonatan Indursky created the series, which is produced by Abot Hameiri Barkai and yesTV.
“‘Shtisel’ has become an iconic series, beautifully portraying a unique way of life through engaging characters and involving storylines. We are so pleased that it has found a perfect new home, alongside the incredible and cinematic series ‘Fire Dance,’ and that both titles will be made available to the growing ChaiFlicks subscriber base around the world,” Sharon Levi, managing director of Yes Studios, said in a statement.
The first TV series from Israeli filmmaker Rama Burshtein-Shai, “Fire Dance” is a “coming-of-age story of a young, troubled woman, in a tight knit ultra-orthodox religious sect,” the release says. Lead actor Yehuda Levy was named best actor at the 2022 Series Mania Festival, where the show premiered.
