Another season of Variety’s beloved interview series, “Actors on Actors,” has come to a close – with a bang.
Season 19 is officially the most successful rollout in franchise history, racking up over 145 million views across the brand’s social media platforms. This round of interviews featured stimulating conversations between the biggest stars in this year’s Oscar race.
Variety’s social team, led by editor Katcy Stephan with coordinator Rachel Seo, posted over 400 clips across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X to support the conversations. TikTok alone garnered over 111 million views, more than Season 18 earned across all platforms combined in June 2023’s record-breaking run.
Season 19’s pairings included Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway in a “Devil Wears Prada” reunion, Taraji P. Henson and Jeffrey Wright, Greta Lee and Andrew Scott and a “Barbenheimer” mashup that set the internet ablaze with Margot Robbie and Cillian Murphy.
Top-performing videos include Margot Robbie’s passionate plea for more “Peaky Blinders,” Bradley Cooper’s confession that he thinks better with his eyes closed and Anne Hathaway’s sweet memory of meeting Emily Blunt for the first time.
“‘Actors on Actors’ is now one of the biggest interview series on the internet. There’s nothing like it,” says Variety co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh. “I’m so proud of its success and the unprecedented growth we’ve seen this year in original content from the Variety video team.”
The four full episodes of “Actors on Actors” will debut on PBS SoCal on Jan. 11 at 8 to 10 p.m., followed by encores on KCET and public television stations across the country and the WORLD Channel (check local listings). All episodes will stream on pbssocal.org and the free PBS App following their premieres.
